Fire safety is a subject every child needs to learn and learn repeatedly in order to stay safe. To help educate the Kindergarten classes, the firefighters of Engine 18 read the scholars a story of a young bunny who ignores the rules of handling hot things, and accidentally burns his hands! The firefighters and students then discussed what the bunny could have done differently and how each child is just like that bunny, needing to follow the rules to stay safe. Our students then had an opportunity to learn more about the job of a firefighter and even countdown how quickly a firefighter could put on all of their safety gear! The students enjoyed the visit and many left the reading with a new dream of what they could be when they grow up.
